Sanchez Needs Bumper Arsenal Pay To Stay

alexis sanchez celebrates but may leave arsenal

The £35 million spent by Arsenal to sign Alexis Sanchez was the second highest transfer fee in the club's history, but they could easily double their money if they decide to cash in on their star player.

The Real Madrid rumours have continued to grow over the last few weeks and the Spanish giants are known for their tendency to chase the flavour of the month.

And Alexis is exactly that right now. His goal in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Watford meant the Chilean has now scored 10 in his last six matches for club and country and he is in red-hot form.

If Arsenal chiefs have any foresight, they will sit down with Alexis's representatives to discuss a new contract before one of the European giants turns his head. The Gunners need to show just how much they value their showstopper.

The 26-year-old has already played for Barcelona, so at least they can be ruled out as potential suitors, but he could comfortably earn more money at another club.

Alexis is paid £130,000-a-week - nothing to sniff at - on the deal he signed when he joined Arsenal, which runs until 2019.

Only Mesut Ozil earns more than Alexis but his market rate must surely be closer to £200,000-a-week, especially when you consider that Wayne Rooney pockets a weekly salary of £300,000.

Alexis was below his best for much of 2015 as fatigue seemed to catch up with him, but he is now in the kind of form that makes Arsenal genuine title contenders.

It is probably too much to ask him to dig the Gunners out of the hole they have dug themselves in Europe with defeats in their first two games and back-to-back fixtures against Bayern Munich to come.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry told Goal in the summer that the club did not need to sign a Galactico because they have Alexis.

"We obviously have to add a few but we have a special player already in Alexis Sanchez," Henry said.

"Alexis needs to settle a bit. He already had an amazing season but I expect him to be better next year. If he can stay injury free, he is that guy who can fire you to win the league."

It looks like Henry was right. Alexis scored 25 goals in his debut season for Arsenal - but he is playing even better at the moment.

And that won't have escaped the attention of the richest and most famous clubs in the world, whether Real Madrid, Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain.

Alexis is the kind of player that can inspire a side to the title.

Arsenal must recognise that and offer him a lucrative new deal before the whispers over his future grow into something much louder.

Arsenal Boss Eyes Summer Clear-outs

The midfield trios' contracts are set to expire at the end of the season and it is understood the Gunners are planning for life without them, claim the  London Evening Standard . All three midfielders have been bit-part players this season with Arsene Wenger believed to be having concerns over their fitness and consistency to perform at a high level.  Rosicky, who turnt 35 last month, is expected to be sidelined until after Christmas following knee surgery and has failed to play a single minute of first-team football.  The Czech was set to leave the Gunners last summer but Arsenal invoked a clause in his previous contract to keep him at the Emirates for a further 12 months.  By leaving Arsenal, this will allow Rosicky to finish his career with his first club Sparta Prague - which he is open to.  The same can be said for Flamini as there are those who believe his best days are behind him too, with the poor performance in the Capital One Cup exit...

Mourinho Punishment Too Much - Pulis

Mourinho And Pulis West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has questioned who will benefit from the £50,000 fine that has been handed to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. After his seven-minute outburst in the aftermath of his side's 3-1 defeat to Southampton, Mourinho has been fined the five-figure sum by the Football Association, as well as been given a suspended one-match stadium ban. However, Pulis has described the amount as "extraordinary", and called for greater transparency regarding where the money will be used. The 57-year-old told reporters: "I think we need to have a meeting to find out what is going on or isn't going on. A fine of £50,000 is an extraordinary amount of money. I have been fined a few times by the FA for stepping out of line, but my argument is where does that money go? "Does it go to charity? Does it go to the hundreds and hundreds of people who will jump on the back of the Eurostar? Where does that m...
