Game in numbers | Montreal vs New England Revolution

drogba in MLS

Saturday’s victory on the road against New England may be one of the biggest in the club’s MLS history, clinching a playoff berth with a gritty defensive performance against last season’s MLS Cup finalists.
In a league where results on the road are extremely hard to come by, the Impact has risen to the occasion, winning two straight in 1-0 shutouts.
In addition, the team has earned points in four of six matches away from Stade Saputo since Mauro Biello took over the coaching reigns, during a difficult stretch of games to close out the season, and for just the second time in club history, managed wins in two straight road games.
Here are some other fun facts following Saturday’s playoff clinching performance:
  • 3 – number of shutouts Evan Bush has registered this season versus the Revs, in three games (2-0-1).
  • 14 – record tying 14th win of the season.
  • 9 – single season record set for number of shutouts.
  • 4 – Tied club record for most wins on the road in one season.
  • 5 – Piatti’s 5th goal away from home has tied the club record for most road markers (Di Vaio 2013).
  • 20 – the number of points the Impact has picked up over its last 10 games, more than any other 10-game stretch in its MLS history.
