Louis van Gaal is refusing to set a comeback date for Luke Shaw, but insists the Manchester United left-back is making good progress in his recovery from a double leg break

Shaw fractured his right leg in two places following a tackle by Hector Moreno in United's 2-1 defeat at PSV Eindhoven seven weeks ago.
Van Gaal claimed after the match that Shaw could be playing again in six months, but the United manager is now reluctant to pencil in a return date for the 20-year-old.
"Luke is progressing well and is doing as well as we could have hoped at this stage," Van Gaal wrote in his programme notes ahead of Tuesday's Champions League match against CSKA Moscow.
"We are not putting any timings on his recovery or a return, as it is important we allow nature to take its course.
"Luke is working hard during his recuperation to keep his body in the best possible condition.
"He is receiving plenty of messages of encouragement from supporters, which I know he appreciates."
Shaw endured a difficult first season at Old Trafford following his £30million move from Southampton, but started his second campaign at the club in fine form.
England manager Roy Hodgson has not ruled out taking the defender to the European Championship if he makes a full recovery by next spring.

MESSI VS RONALDO DEBATE Meanwhile, Messi just found the back of the net in Russia only in his last outing vs Nigeria and missed a vital penalty in the 1-1 draw with Iceland. These developments led to a spike in support for Ronaldo to be considered the greatest of all time, with this summer exemplifying his brilliant form over the last few years. Vardy: It Was Easy To Reject Arenal Move

Jamie Vardy says it was easy for him to reject a move to Arsenal, insisting both his head and his heart told him to stay at Leicester City. After playing a crucial role in last season's surprising Premier League title win, the England international was the subject of a bid from the Gunners which triggered his £22 million release clause. Instead, the striker opted to remain at the King Power Stadium and signed a new deal with the Foxes. And Vardy, 29, says it was an easy decision to make. “I was in a hotel room [in Chantilly] for so many hours of every day with nothing to do. You had a lot of time on your hands," he told The Guardian . “I am not going to beat around the bush – every time I thought about it, and every aspect of it I thought about, both my head and my heart were saying to stay at Leicester, which is why I made my decision to stay. “There were loads of reasons. You get that much time to think about, every single thing down to the tea lady. You think about w...
