Scholes: Lingard deserves ‘special mention’

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has praised Jesse Lingard for his excellent performance in the 1-0 win against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
In what was a must win encounter for Man United, Lingard’s inclusion may have surprised some people given the 22-year-old’s lack of experience in the competition.
But, following a lively and effective performance, capped off with an assist for Wayne Rooney‘s winning goal, Lingard’s selection was fully justified on this occasion.
Scholes, who has been critical of his former club in recent weeks, picked out Lingard as United’s star man against CSKA.

Lingard’s perfectly executed assist for what was a vital goal revealed another layer to his footballing makeup; not only is he constantly energetic, forward thinking, and quick with his feet, the youngster has a calm head. A vital asset when it comes to playing at this level.
If he can sustain that level of liveliness and calm execution, there’s every chance that Lingard – who, at present, seems to be ahead of the out of form Memphis Depay in Louis van Gaal‘s pecking order – could be a regular for United this season.
At 22, and with his career at Old Trafford yet to really get off the ground, Lingard will want to seize this opportunity with both hands.

Vardy: It Was Easy To Reject Arenal Move

Jamie Vardy says it was easy for him to reject a move to Arsenal, insisting both his head and his heart told him to stay at Leicester City. After playing a crucial role in last season's surprising Premier League title win, the England international was the subject of a bid from the Gunners which triggered his £22 million release clause. Instead, the striker opted to remain at the King Power Stadium and signed a new deal with the Foxes. And Vardy, 29, says it was an easy decision to make. “I was in a hotel room [in Chantilly] for so many hours of every day with nothing to do. You had a lot of time on your hands," he told The Guardian . “I am not going to beat around the bush – every time I thought about it, and every aspect of it I thought about, both my head and my heart were saying to stay at Leicester, which is why I made my decision to stay. “There were loads of reasons. You get that much time to think about, every single thing down to the tea lady. You think about w...
